I have posted a few of the key areas that are both critical and pressing.   I am interested in hearing your concerns and suggestions as well.  Please send me a comment on any of the topics below.  If your topic doesn't fit one of these descriptions, please send your comment through this thread. 

Economy

The Economy is on everyone's mind these days. There are challenges and some of the "solutions" being proposed will just push us over the edge.   Here are a few of the key economic topics that I feel should be prioritized and addressed.

• Debt & Fiscal Restraint - You and your family can't spend your way out of an economic crisis, neither can this country.  We must get control of our spending as the debt will be un-sustainable.
• Tax Reform - Radical tax simplification.  I am an avid supporter of the Fair Tax; a simple consumption based sales tax.
• Free Enterprise - Capitalism works.  We need to encourage families, small businesses, large corporations and individuals to participate in it. When employers know that the Government will not interfere in their business, they will invest in their business and grow.
• Stimulus - Where did the $700 billion dollars go?  How did Main Street America benefit from it?  It is easy to see how politicians themselves benefit.  Any government spending which does not come from a surplus cannot "stimulate" the economy because it must first take money from the economy before it can spend it.
• Health Care - Can we improve our Health Care System? Of course.  With millions of uninsured and spiraling costs, something must be done.  However, the answer is not the government.   More debate and ideas like tort reform, competition and Health savings accounts are needed to come up with the best solution.

Accountability

A great many citizens have lost faith in our government.  I believe it stems from the total lack of accountability on our elected leaders.    Whether it is the mortgage crisis brought on by Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac or the reckless stimulus spending, no one has been challenged or held accountable for the abuse and negligence they have caused. 

• Voice of the People - It needs to be stronger and heard in Washington.
• Transparency - If a bill can't be read in open session or posted for public review, it has no business being introduced.
• Simplicity - This country was founded on an elegant constitution that has only 4,400 words. Bills do not need to have thousands of pages.  This makes proper analysis and debate almost impossible.
• The U.S. Constitution - As one of the greatest documents in the world, it is the foundation of our representative republic and needs to be honored.
• Environmental - There is a tremendous amount of support for protecting the environment and our national resources.  It needs to be conducted in a scientifically sound and economically responsible manner.
• U.S. Integrity - We are the greatest nation on the planet.  Our behavior and presence needs to reinforce our place in the world.
